Have you judged a book by its cover? I guess the object does not necessarily have to be a book, but the meaning is still there. I have been guilty of judging things by the cover and not giving things a chance. But sometimes when you do give that thing a chance, you end up even more impressed or even happier than not giving it a try in the first place.
Athletic Banquet/Favours
After not seeing more than half the team for the last several weeks, it was nice to see them at the Athletic Banquet. The night started off with a wine and cheese gathering for those who received awards for academic and athletic achievements. I'm not sure why they serve wine with cheese, but the variety of cheese was very interesting. I don't know the different names of the cheeses there, but some of them tasted half decent. :) Afterwards, the banquet started off with a video of the various varsity teams. I had a video created just for the badminton team, but apparently it wasn't played because the format of the file wasn't avi. GRRRR! How annoying! But the plus side of things is that everyone on the badminton team got a copy of the video. ~I hope you guys like it!~ :D
If you are ever caught in owing favours, don't owe them to Ashley! Geez, someone is super crazy! Btw, the area is turning brown! Thanks Amily... STUPID!

Swimming
After around 3 years of not swimming, I've decided to give it another try. It's not everyday you are surrounded by water from head to toe. I tried to learn some froggy style swimming, but I suck too much to coordinate my legs properly. Even when I was trying to tread water using the "bicycle" method, my legs would only push off once and then die on me. I guess they weren't designed too well for swimming. :P They are better for pushing off in badminton. Now to find out if I should join dragon boat. :)

Insightful
During service this morning, someone shared something very insightful.
"If you don't have something to die for, then what are you living for?"
Very interesting...

Strike over
It looks like school is going to resume on tuesday. On one hand, I'm glad school is starting again, but at the same time, I liked being able to have free time. I guess it's time to dust off the books and start reading again.

Risks
There are lots of risks in life. Whether you are crossing the road or just sitting on a chair, there is always a risk that something horrible will happen. Although these risks are not really controllable, there are some other risks that you can control. I guess I can say that I have taken some risks and sometimes the outcomes are good and sometimes the outcomes are bad. Recently I took one of the biggest risks that I never thought about doing and it turned out to be a good outcome. PHEW! Professional stupid.... right here!!!

Good news, Bad news
Good news:
Played extremely well at SOTF. I gave Erven a scare and got him worrying, but it wasn't enough to take any games off of him. :P I ended up placing 3rd because of super cramps in both legs. :( I managed to win a brita filter thingy which I exchanged for an Elizabeth Arden perfume and moisturizer kit. Now I can be sure my skin doesn't have any blemmishes. :P For doubles, kwok was nice enough to play with me and we made it to the semi-finals where we lost to the top seeds. We didn't get any prizes for getting that far in the tournament, but I got something for getting to the finals for mixed doubles! WHooo HOO!! I got a set of st. ivy's goodies including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.
One thing good about SOTF are the draw prizes. I got 5 hand clothes on top of the prizes I already got! :D AND... when the grand prize was drawn for, no one went up to collect the prize so I didn't know what was going on. I was doing some sudoku at the time while muttering "say David Trinh" to myself. :P As I looked up, I saw a couple of people looking at me and I was wondering what was going on because no one claimed the prize. So I asked, "did I win"? Several people answered no and that's when I knew I did win! hahaha People are such bad liars! :P I ended up winning this stereo system that plays mp3s and also has a radio and stuff. It's great! :D So all in all, a winning weekend!!! WHOOO HOOO!!!!
Bad news
I busted my BK racquet. :( Sigh!!! Now I'm down to my last one! Badminton is so expensive!!!
Oh yea, one more thing, I've decided to grow some "balls" and take some bandages off. :P

Strike
It looks like the college strike isn't going to end this week. In the meantime, I've been trying to get some work done, but unfortunately, there are too many distractions. :P Since I don't have cable at home, I guess the only real distraction is my computer and the most lethal distraction, my bed! Do you ever have those times where you just get sleepy and just want to crawl into bed to take a nap? hehehe Anyhoo, I've been trying to find some cost effective methods of going out to have fun. There have been some suggestions like going shopping, watching movies, walking in the park, attending carnivals or exhibitions, and even chilling at someone's house. I guess shopping isn't really cost effective unless you need to pick up something, but then again, perhaps going there is more for the environment. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to spend the extra time? :P Also, can anyone suggest a service that I can subscribe to for cable tv? I got an HD tv, so I guess something that would take advantage of it? :)

Strike
Doh! All the colleges across Canada are on strike. Man, I thought they would have resolved something by now, but I guess there are some issues to be worked out between the teachers and the "other people". :P In the meantime, I suppose I can use the time to "work" and perhaps even "read". I hope this strike doesn't cut into the vacation time between terms... I'm looking forward to going to Texas. :P YYYYEEEEE HHHAAAAAA

24
After years of being in school, I have never been so close to my mom. In the past, I would never discuss my personal life with her. Perhaps it is the traditional chinese mentality where chinese kids don't talk to their parents about their love life, but I've found comfort in sharing these things with my mom. I've gained lots of insight from her and considering she knows me so well, I wouldn't be surprised if she was to tell me about the kind of girl I'm looking for. I guess it also helps that we've been watching the tv show 24 together and admiring Jack Bauer for his courage and brains. Every week I've been downloading episodes of 24 for my mom and I to watch. Most of the time, we don't have the luxury of watching the show together so my mom would watch the episode on her own. Although we aren't watching the show together, the plus side of things is that she has learned how to turn on my computer and find that next episode of 24 on my computer. :P
I'm not sure if you are close with your mom or even your dad, but if you aren't, I encourage you to spend time with them. They have lots of knowledge to share and lots of experience to pass on to you. Sometimes you may think your parents are in "right field", but you'll be surprised when they've been through what you are currently going through now.

Aggressive vs Passive approach
When you are getting to the stage in your life where you want to meet that special someone who you can share your "ups" and "downs" with, how do you go about approaching it? Before the use of internet, people would meet others through various social gatherings whether it be carnivals or bars. However, with online dating and websites such as friendster and lavalife, it seems like the internet has provided a method of conveniently meeting other people. I'm not saying that internet as replaced a tradition "date", but it does help enhance chances of meeting "single" people.
Though there may be more approaches to meeting someone, 2 main approaches come to mind: the AGGRESSIVE approach and the PASSIVE approach. For those who are more aggressive, I guess confronting the other person head on would be one way of going about it or even mass-messaging people on friendster or lavalife. But using this approach is risky because not only do you put your heart out there on the line, the other person may find you "weird". For those who are passive, I guess you just kind of twiddle your thumbs hoping that some how you get a chance to meet someone. One PRO about this approach is that you don't have to put your heart on the line, but the CON side of things is that you will minimize your chances of meeting people by being passive.
I suppose there is a balance between being aggressive and being passive. Any ideas on how to go about meeting that special someone?

Groups of 3
From personal experience, groups of 3 don't work. When going out for activities, unless everyone knows each other on a personal basis, a group of 3 people doesn't work. If you are the unfortunate one, you will find that you won't be able to relate to some inside jokes or inside stories that the other 2 people are conversing about. Even when you attempt to create a conversation, it usually ends up dying or some how relates back to some story that the other 2 people can converse about. Perhaps I have been caught in one situation, but it seems like this situation has occurred enough times for me to officially say "shame on me" (based on the saying "trick me once, shame on you, trick me twice, shame on me").

Another great song :)
I'll tell you how I feel
There's a secret inside me
I'm ready to reveal
To have you close, embrace your heart
with my love
over and over
These are things that I promise
my promise to you
CHORUS:
For all of my life
you are the one, i will love you faithfully forever
all of my life you are the one
I'll give to you my greatest love
for all of my life.
ooohhh..
o yeah...
Let me lay down beside you
There's something you should know
I pray that you decide to
open your heart and let me show
enchanted worlds of fairy tales
a wonderland of love
these are things that I promise
my promise to you
chorus
all of my life
with all of my heart
these are things that I promise
chorus
